A total of 454.346 confirmed cases of COVID-19 (+3840 day-on-day), were registered in countries in Central- and Eastern Europe, Germany, Austria and Greece, show official data of national authorities received by the World Health Organization (WHO) by 10:00, June 28. The growth of COVID-19 cases in the region was particularly strong in Kosovo, North Macedonia, Albania and Moldova in the past week, according to data updated as of June 22. Belarus has registered more confirmed cases of Covid-19 per million people than Italy. The total number of fatalities in the region is 17.292 (+76), out of which 8957 registered in Germany, 1589 in Romania, 1435 in Poland, 1129 in Ukraine 700 in Austria, 578 in Hungary, 526 in Moldova, 377 in Belarus 347 in Czechia, 277 in North Macedonia, 267 in Serbia, 216 in Bulgaria. The highest number of cases of COVID-19 in the area was registered in Germany (193499, +256 in the last 24 hours), followed by Belarus (61095, +382), Ukraine (42982, +917), Poland (33714, +319), Romania (26022, +325), Austria (17562, +64), Moldova (16090, +304), Serbia (13792, +227) and Czechia (11298, +260). In Slovenia, Croatia, Bulgaria, Romania and in the Western Balkans (Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Kosovo, North Macedonia, Albania) 64041 confirmed cases and 2847 deaths were registered as of June 28. In Central- and Eastern Europe, Belarus has registered about 6437 cases of COVID-19 per million inhabitants, compared to 3986 in Italy, followed by Moldova (3971) and North Macedonia (2843), while the lowest rate was observed in Greece (313 per million) and Slovakia (304 per million), according to a count by ANSA based on WHO data. In the region, North Macedonia has registered the highest number of deaths per one million population in the region (133), followed by Moldova (130) and Germany (108), Slovakia the lowest (5).
    Italy has recorded around 574 deaths per million inhabitants. Between June 15 and June 22, the highest weekly increase of confirmed cases was observed in Kosovo (+47,3%), North Macedonia (+25,9%), Albania (+25,5%) and Moldova (+21,0%). In Serbia, Czechia, Greece, Croatia, Slovakia, Germany, Lithuania, Slovenia, Austria, Latvia, Hungary and Estonia the weekly increase of new cases is between 5% and zero.
