Two circus shows will open tomorrow
in the small hall of the Slovenian National Theater in Nova
Gorica, Slovenia, the third edition of Mitteyoung, the project
that the Mittelfest festival, which has its 'summer' focus in
Cividale del Friuli (Udine), in its spring section dedicates to
European artists under 30. The circus shows, says festival
artistic director Giacomo Pedini, "have been specially chosen to
overcome any language barrier, attract the widest possible
audience and be borderless for all intents and purposes."
The program for the first day of Mittelyoung kicks off at 6
p.m. with the first study of "Quieto Parado," an Italian show
created by Pietro Barilli, in which a tragicomic character is
spasmodically searching for balance to the point of bordering on
madness.
This will be followed at 9:30 p.m. by "CM_30," a German show
by Kolia Huneck, in which a skilled juggler, who accompanies his
performances with sound compositions by Rutger Zuydervelt,
creates an immersive environment somewhere between contemporary
circus and art installation.
