The development plan for the
Domino and Pelican South commercial natural gas fields in the
Neptun Deep block of the Black Sea has been approved by OMV
Petrom, the largest integrated energy company in South-Eastern
Europe controlled by OMV Austria, and Romgaz, Romania's largest
producer and main supplier of natural gas, according to OMV
Petrom. OMV Petrom and Romgaz will invest up to 4 billion euros
for the development phase of the project, which will lead
Romania to become the largest gas producer in the EU in the near
future. First production is estimated for 2027 and the
production at the plateau will be approximately 8 bcm annually,
for almost 10 years.
