Kosovo: 'crypto-mining' banned due to energy crisis

(ANSA) - BELGRADE, JAN 6 - Authorities in Kosovo have banned
the mining of cryptocurrencies, which requires huge amount of
electricity, in order to curb electricity use amidst a severe
energy crisis, the BBC reported today. The Kosovo government
said "security services will identify and clamp down on sources
of cryptocurrency mining," the BBC wrote. Kosovo declared a
state of emergency in December due to the ongoing energy crisis
and is enforcing temporary controlled blackouts. (ANSA).
