Croatia: National Bank, GDP growth at 3% in 2019

In 2020 slight slowdown to 2.8%

(ANSA) - BELGRADE, 17 DEC - Croatia economy will grow by 3% in 2019, according to new estimates of the Croatian National Bank.

Croatia's economic growth is expected to reach 3% in 2019 and to slightly slow in 2020, when the growth is forecasted at 2.8%, Croatian National Bank Governor Boris Vujcic said, quoted by the Croatian public broadcaster HRT. "We expect higher demand for our exports," Vujcic said, adding that in 2020 "effectively the rate of growth should remain about the same as it is this year. Growth in employment should also stay roughly the same at 2%, while unemployment will continue to decline to under 6%," Vujcic added.

The forecasts of the Croatian National Bank are largely in line with the latest of the European Commission, which said that the country will grow by 2.9% in 2019 and 2.6% in 2020, with "domestic demand" remaining "the main driver of economic activity" and investments growing. (ANSA).
