(ANSA) - BRUSSELS, MAY 7 - Albania's economic growth
continues at the rate of 3.8% for 2019, but the uncertainties in
the main European trading partners are a burden, according to
the European Commission's spring economic forecasts.
The growth of Albania in 2019 should remain solid, ''driven
by private consumption and by strengthening investments'', and
should fall slightly to 3.7% in 2020 ''due to the slowdown in
employment and growth in the main EU economic partners, which
affect remittances and exports of raw materials''.
Inflation is still at 2%, weighed down by the appreciation of
the Albanian Lek compared to the euro. The Union expects that
''the value of the currency will return to a more realistic
level in 2019 when the effects of temporary appreciation
dissipate''. The big public debt - 67.3% at the end of 2018 -
will continue to gradually decrease, reaching 63.3% in 2020.
