Romania: prime minister, soon new bridge on Danube

Project to be developed through a private-public partnership

(ANSA) - BELGRADE, 19 APR - Romania is planning to build a new bridge on the river Danube, to link the city of Zimnicea to Svishtov, in Bulgaria, Romanian prime minister Viorica Dancila said, quoted by the specialized portal SeeNews.

The new bridge "is a project that we decided to implement as quickly as possible with our friends south of the Danube" and it was already "discussed with Bulgarian prime minister Boyko Borissov," Dancila said.

The two EU countries are currently connected by two bridges over the Danube, one between Ruse and Giurgiu and another one between Vidin and Calafat. The possible new bridge between Zimnicea and Svishtov should be realized through a public-private partnership. (ANSA).
