EU calls on W.Balkans' six leaders to cooperate

Mogherini met six leaders in Brussels to take the edge off

19 December, 18:09
(ANSA) - BRUXELLES, 19 DIC - EU High Representative Federica Mogherini met today the six leaders of the Western Balkans (Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia and Kosovo) in Brussels in an attempt to take the edge off in the region, particularly between Serbia and Kosovo. The six countries must "more than ever should work together to advance the shared objective of the EU integration", Mogherini said.

The Balkan leaders committed to work to further the region's integration in the EU in a spirit of good neighbourly relations and reconciliation, refraining from all actions and statements that are not conducive to the overall interests and strategic objectives of the region. Support has been expressed by all the six countries also for the Prespa agreement between Athens and Skopje on the new name of Macedonia, and the achievement of a legally binding agreement in the dialogue between Pristina Belgrade.(ANSA).
