(ANSA) - BELGRADE, 18 DIC - The IFO index, an important indicator of economic developments in Germany and of the sentiment of businesses, has dropped to 101 points in December from 102 in November, local media reported. This represents the fourth monthly drop in a row.

Analysts had forecasted a smaller decrease, to 101.7 points, the daily Handelsblatt recalled.

"Companies were less satisfied with their current business situation" and "their business expectations also continued to deteriorate," IFO said in a statement.

The Ifo index represents one of the best indicators of the economic development of the German economy, based on around 9,000 opinions of companies in the country. (ANSA).
