(ANSA) - BELGRADE - The European Union and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) will initiate a new 100-million euro investment program for tourism in Albania, local media reported.

"We are preparing with the EU government an innovative program which will combine EBRD and EU money. It will be a huge program, with 100 million EUR," Alain Pilloux, Vice President of the EBRD, said as quoted by the Tv Top Channel.

The investment program, Pilloux added, will contribute to build local roads and aqueducts in tourist areas and will include funds for smaller tourist businesses, and for protection and restoration of the cultural and natural heritage sites.

In 2017, Albania received around 1.7 billion euros from foreign tourists, Top Channel noted, adding the touristic will continue growing this year. (ANSA).
