(ANSA) - BRATISLAVA, MAR 3 - The Slovak police have released
all the seven Italians arrested over the murder of journalist
Jan Kuciak, according to police, explaining that the custody
period (48 hours) has expired, without evidence for formal
accusation.
The head of the Slovak police, Tibor Gaspar, announced that,
with regard to the murder of journalist Jan Kuciak, police are
working on a new investigation. At the same time, he has said
that he never received information from Italy on the activity of
the 'ndrangheta in the east of Slovakia as declared by the
Reggio Calabria acting prosecutor Gaetano Paci who said that
"for some time we have officially drawn the attention of the
international police forces and the Slovak national police on
the need to monitor the activities of the group of Calabrians
arrested because they are suspected of being involved in the
murder of the young journalist Jan Kuciack and his partner".
"It is not true that the Slovak police did not react to
warnings from the Italian prosecutors. I do not understand why
misleading information is being spread", Gaspar said. The Slovak
public prosecutor also declared that he has not yet received any
warning. "In February 2014 we urged the Italian police to give
us information. The investigator asked them even twice, but we
only received it in October 2015", Gaspar added. The police
chief did not give any details about the investigation into
Kuciak's death and the release of the seven Italians arrested,
not even about the new investigation.(ANSA).
