(ANSA) - BRUSSELS - "Serbia is making steady progress towards EU integration" and "we're working for Serbia as one of the next members of the EU, I'm optimistic", European Parliament president, Antonio Tajani, said in a joint press point with the Serbian Prime Minister, Ana Brnabic, in Brussels.

"I want to be clear: there's more left to be done", notably in the area of the rule of law and judiciary, Tajani pointed out.

"Reforms are needed to attract foreign direct investments and EU is ready to help", the president of the European Parliament added. EU and Belgrade's government "are working to strengthen their cooperation", as "Serbia is also an important partner to EU for migration and security", Tajani explained.

An official visit of the European Parliament president to Belgrade is scheduled on 30th January 2018. Growth will be the main focus of the mission and Tajani will travel to Serbia with a delegation of investors. "Serbian economy is growing and there are good signs for the country", he added.
