(ANSA) - GORIZIA - A visit in the name of reconciliation 100 years after the Great War, a hug to Slovenia with which Italy shares the destiny of United Europe. A common tribute to all the fallen, in memory of bloody battles that were fought for on Isonzo river to conquer Gorizia to Italy.

These three elements are the content of the visit of President of Italian Republic Sergio Mattarella, and the encounter with the Head of Slovenian State, Borut Pahor, in Gorizia.

The occasion is the centenary of the Took of Gorizia, in August 1916 at the end of the Sixth "Battle of Isonzo", between the Austro-Hungarian and Reign of Italy forces.

Previously, Mattarella will make a special tribute to Trieste, in the 52th anniversary of the return to Italy, in October 25th, 1954. (ANSA).
