(ANSA) - TRIESTE - Hungarian budget carrier Wizz Air, aiming to increase business opportunities and the growing number of tourists coming from Italy to Georgia, has chosen to open a new air connection from Milan Malpensa to Kutaisi, Georgia's second largest city, 200km west of the capital, Tbilisi.

The flight, presented in Milan by some representatives of the Carrier and officers from Georgia's National Tourism Department, will be operated twice a week (in summer 3 times) and reflects the interest in the Caucasian country shown by Italian visitors, according the latest data. Tatia Khaindrava, from the National Tourism Department, underlined that in 2015 ''the country recorded a strong increase in the number of tourists, about 15%.

And we are sure that - she added -, more and more Italians will visit Georgia, thanks to this new direct flight from Milan to Kutaisi''. The satisfactory results recorded last year are in line with those collected in the first eight months of 2016, when an increase of Italian tourists by 9.9% was recorded, compared with the same period in the previous year.
