Italy-Serbia: talks between defence ministers

Belgrade thanks Italy for supporting EU integration

(ANSA) - BELGRADE, OCT. 18 - Belgrade is grateful to Italy for supporting Serbia's process of European integration, and attaches great importance to strategic partnership between the two countries, according to Serbian defence minister Zoran Djordjevic. The minister met with his Italian counterpart Roberta Pinotti in Rome, where he took part in the conference of defense ministers of the South East Europe countries. Djordjevic, the Serbian defense ministry reported in a statement, thanked Minister Pinotti for the contribution that Italian military KFOR contingent is giving in terms of professionalism and commitment to guaranteeing security in Kosovo. The talks focused, in particular, on the migrant crisis, which requires all international actors to adopt a comprehensive and global approach in order to find the best solution. Within the intensive bilateral cooperation in the defence sector, the joint participation in multinational peace operations is very important, and in particular the joint commitment to the UN mission in Lebanon. Moreover, minister Pinotti mentioned the possibility of joint military exercises and exchange of troops. (ANSA).
