Kosovo state border demarcation within two years

Minister of Foreign Affairs: Belgrade maintains 'hostile policy'

19 July, 16:03

(ANSA) - PRISTINA - Kosovo is determined to officially draw a state border line with Serbia, said the foreign minister Enver Hoxhaj, cited today by the daily newspaper 'Epoka e re', and this will happen within a couple of years. Accusing Serbia of maintaining a ''hostile policy'' towards Kosovo, Hoxhaj underlined that the border with Serbia is ''the longest and most strategically important''. Belgrade, refusing to recognise Kosovo's independence, proclaimed on February 17, 2008, continues to consider Kosovo a southern Albanian-majority province, does not mention 'borders' but talks about 'internal demarcation line' and uses terms such as 'the so-called state of Kosovo' and 'temporary provincial authorities in Pristina'.

Moreover, Serbia does not use the term 'refugees' from Kosovo but call them 'internally displaced persons'. The EU-mediated dialogue for the normalization of relations between Belgrade and Pristina will remain unchanged until a new government is formed in Serbia, where general election took place on April 24.
