Tusk, defenseless external borders, 'goodbye' to Schengen

Speech at the plenary session in Strasbourg

06 October, 12:15
(ANSA) - STRASBOURG - ''In the absence of a serious and responsible defence system of the external borders of Europe, we should say goodbye to the Schengen Treaty''. This is what the President of the European Council, Donald Tusk, stated speaking plenary session in Strasbourg. ''At the UN, Europe seemed to be the worst place for refugees - said Tusk -, and I felt isolated when I defended the EU. We respect all the rules, but we do not prevent our divisions from damaging the good name of Europe''. (ANSA).
