(ANSA) - ROME - Political elections in Greece will be held September 20, said Greek news agency ANA-MPA on Friday, confirming that the Greek president signed the decree to dissolve parliament, setting the date of the vote. The new parliament will meet October 1.

Meanwhile the president of the Greek Supreme Court, Vassiliki Thanou, 65, nominated Thursday as interim prime minister, was sworn-in on Friday morning by Greek President Prokopis Pavlopoulos, becoming the first woman prime minister in Greek history. The decision of head of state came after failed attempts to form a new government by the leaders of Nea Dimokratia, Vangelis Meimarakis, and Popular Unity, Panagiotis Lafazanis.

The list of the 16 ministers that will make up the interim government includes: Petros Molyviatis for foreign affairs, Giorgos Houliarakis for finance, Nikos Christodoulakis for economy, Antonis Manitakis for interior, Michalis Spourdalakis for administrative reform, General Yannis Giangos (retired) for defence, Antonis Makrydimitris for public order, Froso Kiaou for education, and Christos Zois for shipping. The post of government spokesman will most likely go to Rodolfos Moronis.(ANSA).
