Europe's largest Jewish sporting event opens in Berlin

(ANSA) - BERLIN - The fourteenth edition of the European Jewish games Makkabi has opened in Berlin, Germany. Until August 5th over 2300 athletes from 38 countries will compete for 166 medals in 19 different sports. 70 years after the end of the Second World War, for the first time, Germany is hosting the Jewish games, held under strict surveillance measures to ensure security.
