(ANSA) - LJUBLJANA - The project for a second section of the
railway line between Koper and Divaca, a leading infrastructure
plan in Slovenia, has suffered a setback. The EU funds from
Connecting Europe Facility (CEF), that were what the government
relied on in order to start the work, have not yet been
transferred to Ljubljana. According to Ministry of
Infrastructure Peter Gaspersic, the section between Koper and
Divaca has not been selected because the government has not yet
managed to find a private partner to provide sufficient
financial resources. Slovenia is going to make a new bid when
CEF will issue another tender notice next fall, but it's
necessary to find a private partner within the deadline.
Slovenia's Ministry of Infrastructure confirmed that several
foreign companies from Turkey, Austria, the Netherlands and
China, are vying for the construction of the second section of
of the railway line. (ANSA).
