Ukraine rebels dropped 'Novorossia' project

Minsk agreements do not forsee the entity

21 May, 16:29

(ANSA) - MOSCOW - Pro-Russian rebels have dropped their project to create Novorossia, new breakaway state in eastern Ukraine that would have basically retraced the borders of the homonymous former region in tsarist times, from the regions of Donetsk and Lugansk to those of Kharkiv, Odessa and Zaporozhie.

This news was announced by the 'foreign minister' of the self-proclaimed republic of Donetsk, Alexander Kofman, in an interview given to a local daily newspaper. The decision was also confirmed by the 'head of the parliament' of the so-called Novorossia, Oleg Tsariov. The Minsk agreement does not envisage such territorial entities. (ANSA).
