Italian PM Renzi meets Serbian PM Vucic, focus on Balkans

Visit to Tirana by end of 2014. Vucic also meets Napolitano

(ANSA) - ROME - The Italian Prime Minister, Matteo Renzi, had a working lunch with his Serbian counterpart, Aleksandar Vucic, in Rome. According to Palazzo Chigi, the encounter underlines the special focus of the Italian Government on the Balkans, after the high level meeting in Vienna and frequent contacts with the Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama, whom Renzi plans to visit in Tirana before the end of the year and the closure of the Italian semester of the EU Presidency.

The semester, it was underlined, was marked with the attention towards the Mediterranean, focus on Eastern Europe and its economic potentials, and on topics related to immigration and the difficult situation in Ukraine.

Vucic also met the Italian President, Giorgio Napolitano, in the presence of the Under-Secretary for Foreign Affairs, Benedetto Della Vedova. (ANSA)
