(ANSA) - TRIESTE - Economic growth does not always coincide with ''progress and wealth'', according to Statistics Austria, the national statistics office in Vienna, which issued today a report entitled ''Wie geht's Oesterreich? '' (How is Austria doing?), based on 30 key indicators of life quality, well-being and environment.

The report showed that real GDP per person in Austria has decreased by 0.4% in 2013 over the previous year, whereas household consumption decreased even more (-0.6%), together with the per capita disposable income (-2.2%). However, the Austrians seem generally satisfied with their lives. On a scale of one to 10, the Austrians say they are generally very satisfied with their personal relationships, living environment (8.5), work environment (8.0) general life conditions (7.8), the financial situation of their household (7.0).

Less positive news in terms of natural environment. The land use grew by 19.2% between 2001 and 2012, whereas the population increased only by 4.8%, Statistik Austria reported. The energy consumption for transport increased by 48.8% until 2013, as well as the truck traffic on national roads (+ 65.2% until 2012).

PM10 emissions, however, fell by 13% between 1995 and 2012, and the total share of renewable energy rose to about 32% last year.
