Dacic, Serbia committed to EU and agreement with Pristina

Meeting with Ashton, ending EU Foreign Affairs chief's term

22 October, 17:37

(ANSA) - BRUSSELS - Serbia ''is committed to following its path towards European integration and to implementing what has been agreed with Pristina''. This is what Serbia's deputy premier Ivica Dacic said during a meeting in Brussels with the EU foreign affairs chief, Catherine Ashton, whose term is about to come to an end. Dacic thanked the EU foreign policy chief as ''a driver'' of the dialogue so far developed with Pristina and ''impartial mediator'' for the historic April 19, 2013 agreement. ''Ashton has put us on a path that will be long, but irreversible'', said Serbia's deputy premier, underlining that the normalization of relations with Kosovo, along with the agreement reached through dialogue, and, in particular, the creation of an association of municipalities in northern Kosovo, ''is among the interests of Serbs living in Kosovo''. Dacic then gave Ashton an icon of the Serbian Orthodox Church, in gratitude for what she did to facilitate the dialogue with Pristina.
