Construction: Eurostat, Romania OK, slowdown in Germany

Best growth on an annual basis (27.6%) in Slovenia

(ANSA) - TRIESTE - In August 2014, the construction sector grew by 1.5% in the Eurozone and by 0.5% in the EU as a whole, compared with July, according to preliminary estimates released today by Eurostat. When comparing month-on-month data, Romania's result stands out, since this country recorded a month-on-month growth by 2.5%, after a four-month decrease. Slowdown in Germany, on a monthly basis (-2%), Poland and Slovenia (both -1.8%), which are at the very bottom, after the United Kingdom (-3.2%). Another significant figure is a 1.6% decrease in Bulgaria. In a comparison between August 2013 and August 2014, construction output is decreased by 0.3% in the eurozone area and by 0.8% in the EU. A negative performance was recorded in Romania (-15.8%), whereas Slovenia was the country that recorded the highest growth in the construction sector (27.6%). (ANSA).
