Romania, construction sector decline in 7 months 2014

(ANSA) - TRIESTE - The construction sector in Romania recorded a significant slowdown in the first seven months of 2014, according to a press release issued by the National Institute of Statistics (INS) in Bucharest. According to data disclosed in July 2014, the volume of the construction industry in Romania has decreased by 1.7% without seasonal adjustment and by 0.2% with seasonal adjustment, compared with the previou month.

Sharp decline (-19.8%), even in a comparison between July 2014 and July 2013. The Ins remarked that in the first seven months of this year, the volume of the construction sector, with seasonal adjustment, decreased by 11,1% compared with the same period in 2013. The decline in this sector between January and July 2014, the press release underlines, was mainly due to a drop in the infrastructure works (-26.9%), whereas the construction of residential buildings increased by 39.2%, again with seasonal adjustment.
