Poland, Prime Minister Donald Tusk resigned, new role in EU

(ANSA) - WARSAW - Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk - who was recently appointed president of the European Council - has resigned. Along with him, the entire government of his centre-right coalition has resigned. The outgoing coalition had been formed seven years ago by the party of Tusk, Civic Platform (PO), and by the Peasants' Party (PSL) led by the Deputy premier Piechocinski. Ewa Kopacz, current chairman of the Sejm, the lower house of parliament, has been suggested by Tusk's party as the new candidate for the post of prime minister. (ANSA).
