(ANSA) - ATHENS - The head of the state-run Fujian Shipbuilding
Industry group, Zhao Jinjie, expressed his company's interest in
cooperating with Greek shipyards and suppliers.
While discussing the prospects of collaboration between Greek
shipyards and naval equipment suppliers and their Chinese
counterparts with the general secretary of Greek International
Economic Relations, Panagiotis Michalos, Zhao stressed the high
demand among Chinese groups for specialised staff with
high-level expertise in shipbuilding and repair sector.
On his part, Michalos pointed out that Greek shipping industry
professionals were held in high esteem worldwide and agreed that
the shipbuilding sector was one with strong prospects for
Greek-Chinese cooperation. He noted that Greek ship owners were
among the most important clients of Chinese shipyards, with more
than 200 Greek-owned ships currently under construction in
China.
