Croatia unemployment below 18%, first time in 2 years

Country is ranked 3rd in the EU for jobsearch rate

29 July, 20:43

(ANSA) - ZAGREB - In Croatia, the unemployment rate fell in July for the first time in two years, under the threshold of 300,000, amounting to 17.9% of the whole labour force. This is reported by Croatia's National Job Centre. Croatia is ranked third among the EU countries which have the highest unemployment rate, after Greece and Spain. According to the Croatian government, the decrease in the number of unemployed - in July for the fifth consecutive month - is also accompanied by a substantial increase in employment, which might not only be due to the traditionally strong summer demand for seasonal workers in tourism. Actually, statistical data do also show a decrease in the number of unemployed in other sectors, especially in the manufacturing sector.(ANSA).
