(ANSA) - KIEV - US Vice President Joe Biden arrived in Kiev for a two-days visit. Biden is set to meet with Ukraine's interim prime minister, Arseniy Yatsenyuk, parliament Speaker and acting President Oleksandr Turchynov and other key legislators, according to the White House. The White House said Biden intends to discuss preparations for the May 25 elections and the situation in eastern Ukraine.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said Monday that Kiev's leadership is violating the Geneva accord aimed that resolving the crisis in Ukraine. "Measures must be taken urgently" to disarm what he called illegal groups in Ukraine, and criticized ongoing protests in the Maidan area of Kiev. Early on Sunday, at least three people were killed in a shooting near Sloviansk in eastern Ukraine, BBC reported. The self-proclaimed mayor of Sloviansk has imposed a curfew there. Kiev has called events there a "provocation" staged by Russian special forces. The Geneva accord was reached last week at talks between Russia, Ukraine, the European Union and the United States, and called for an immediate end to violence in Ukraine. The accord also demanded that illegal armed groups leave official buildings and give up their weapons. (ANSA).
