(ANSA) - VENICE - The Port Authority of Venice signed a deal
with Lübecker Hafen-Gesellschaft (Port Authority of Lubeck,
Germany) and with the Grimaldi group, aimed at a creation of an
intermodal connection (ferry+train+ferry) between the two ports
in order to connect the Adriatic and the Baltic sea
(Scandinavia, Finland, Russia) with Italy and Greece. The common
objective of the stakeholders is an integrated connection, which
can serve numerous ferry passengers of the two ports by daily
train departures in both directions.
The new railway bridge between Venice and Lubeck envisions two
to six trains per week that will cover the 1,362 kilometres long
route in 26-30 hours. (ANSA).
