Kosovo: visa liberalisation. EP, green light to negotiations
For short stays. Result of dialogue started in 2012
30 August, 12:37 (ANSA) - BRUSSELS, AUGUST 30 - The European Parliament gave
green light to negotiations with EU member states to allow
Kosovo's citizens to travel to Europe without a visa. The EP
Justice Committee passed the opening of negotiations with the
Council and the Commission.
Since 2012, the EU has undertaken the negotiations on short-stay visas with Kosovo, a country that has not yet been recognized by 5 EU countries and is the only one in the whole region that has not yet achieved a visa liberalization regime.
''The Kosovars deserve it. We no longer see a reason to delay or even jeopardise Kosovar citizens' freedom of travel to Europe'', said the rapporteur Tanja Fajon (Social Democratic Party). (ANSA).
