(ANSA) - BELGRADE, AUG 27 - The good health of the economy and
public finances in Serbia has been confirmed by President
Aleksandar Vucic, who said that the performances of the Balkan
country are among the best in Europe.
Vucic underlined that the country's GDP grew by 4.5% in the
first six months of this year, therefore Serbia won third place
in Europe, along with Hungary, behind Ireland and Poland.
According to Serbia's president, the unemployment rate has
dropped drastically and was below 12% for the first time,
compared to 25% a few years ago.
Even the public debt has decreased, to a little more than 58% of
the GDP, whereas the average monthly net salary has increased
and was 49,226 dinars in June, that is about 417 euros. Export
and industrial production achieved good results too, with an
annual inflation rate of 1.1% (April). (ANSA).
