(ANSA) - BELGRADE - Former football player Dejan Stankovic,
formerly a member of the Serbian football team and Inter
midfielder, could soon become the new sports minister in Serbia,
the Belgrade-based newspaper Srpski Telegraf reported.
According to the daily newspaper, the appointment could take
place in the expected premier Ana Brnabic's cabinet reshuffle.
According to Srpski Telegraf, Stankovic could be chosen not only
because of his brilliant sports career as a player, but also
because of the esteem he enjoys in his country and the good
results he achieved 'off' the football ground.
Stankovic is currently an adviser to UEFA president Aleksandr
Ceferin. The Sports Ministry is among those that, according to
Belgrade media, could be affected by the expected reshuffle. The
current minister, Vanja Udovicic, is a former water polo
champion who - just like Stankovic in football - played in the
Serbian water polo team and in the Italian championship. (ANSA).
