21 October, 19:10The initiative aims to highlight the ''dangerous journeys of men, women and children who have worn lifejackets to cross the Mediterranean Sea and flee war and persecution in their country of origin'' and ask for an intervention ''to ensuresafe and legal routes towards Europe as soon as possible''. According to Elisa Bacciotti, managing director of Oxfam's campaigns in Italy,'' these lifejackets represent thousands of children, women and men who tried to reach Europe by sea, but never arrived at their destination''.
