Thousands march in latest anti-government protest in Poland

Organized by the Committee for the Defense of Democracy (KOD)

(ANSA-AP) - WARSAW - Thousands of marchers have gathered in Warsaw for the latest protest against the policies of the conservative government that critics say are dividing the nation.

Protesters came from many corners of Poland for the protest Saturday organized by the Committee for the Defense of Democracy, or KOD. The group has organized regular protests against the 10-month-old Law and Justice government.

The rally gathered before the Constitutional Tribunal, which European Unions have criticized the Polish government for trying to control. The government's moves to ban abortion also were a subject of protest.

A separate rally held in Warsaw on Saturday demanded more funds for the country's chronically strapped health care system and for medical personnel.
