Romania, 2 million signatures against gay marriage

Request to amend Constitution to protect man-woman union

29 February, 13:25

(ANSA) - TRIESTE - The 'Coalition for family', composed of 23 Romanian Ngos and associations, gathered more than 2 million signatures in support of the request to amend the Constitution in order to sanction the marriage as a union between a man and a woman, Romania Insider reported citing the data published by the coalition. The number of signatures already exceeds by far the necessary 500,000 prescribed by law, which allows three more months for signature gathering. The organisers had announced earlier that they would gather more supporters than necessary in order to send a strong message to the political representatives.
