(ANSA) - ANCONA, JAN 23 - Four drivers to develop the Adriatic
Ionian macro-region. The first meeting of the Governing Board,
which started the region's implementation, produced the pyramid
scheme of the future governance and established an agenda for
the forthcoming European Macro-Region, which will be the third
one after the Baltic and the Danube. ''A calendar for the '
Thematic steering groups' on the four pillars (blue economy,
environmental quality, infrastructure, attractiveness) of the
Eusair has been defined - secretary general of the Adriatic
Ionian Region Fabio Pigliapoco explained - and these working
groups will be the AIMR drivers''.
In February they will begin to define the guidelines for
submitting and evaluating all the projects and they will also
start to identify the right sources of funding for each single
pillar. The groups will be composed of - for each Member State -
a representative of the Foreign Ministry and a representative of
the different ministries managing the specific funds. The first
analysis of the results will take place in Croatia after the
summer, since that country will take over the presidency of the
AII by the end of May. ''The Tsg are on the third level of the
governance pyramid scheme. At the top you find the Foreign
Affairs ministers of the eight countries which are members of
the AIMR, gathered in the Adriatic Ionian Council, while the
co-presidency is entrusted to the European Commission and the
presidency of the AII, now led by Bosnia-Herzegovina. Then comes
the Governing Board, the 'control room' which includes the
European Commission, Intergroup within the Committee of the
Regions, Adriatic Ionian Initiative, Adrion Programme managing
authority, European Economic and Social Committee, the Eusair
coordinators from the eight member countries and for the four
pillars. At the base of the pyramid, there will be the
stakeholders' platform, which will aim to involve
representatives of civil organizations, and whose structure and
headquarters are still under debate. (ANSA).
