(ANSA) - BRUSSELS - Today and tomorrow in Marseille the official launch of 14 new projects under the European cross-border cooperation project which is named 'Mediterranean' and which sees the Marche Region among the eight Italian project-managers.

The Department of agriculture, forestry and fishing is heading 'Nemo', the project that within the Adriatic-Ionian Initiative will seek to play a role in developing a common attitude toward cross-border fishing tourism. This initiative is included in an integrated maritime policy which is promoted by the European project named Med, aimed at enhancing economic development of coastal areas, while respecting the environment and biodiversity.

Nemo, which started in June this year, has a budget of over € 400,000 and will be completed at the end of May 2015. These 14 projects are the result of the last European tender notice funded with approximately € 5.4 million, coming from Funds for regional development in Europe (2007-2013), in order to establish new partnerships for the period 2014-2020. These projects (duration, 1 year) represent a 'bridge' between the old and the new European cross-border cooperation, in accordance with the strategy of 'blue growth', aimed at developing marine and maritime economic activities. These new actions will take stock on several fronts in the whole region or in a specific area, and will then design some guidelines for future projects. (ANSA).
