April 25: Ancona celebrates the ideals of Resistance in AIMR

Initiative developed by anti-fascist associations

17 April, 19:33
(ANSA) - ANCONA - Three days of meetings and testimonies, from April 23 to April 25 in Ancona, to begin the 70th anniversary of the Liberation of the Marche Region and, at the same time, enhance the AIMR (Adriatic-Ionian macro-region) in the name of high-profile democratic ideals of European citizenship. The Marche region has thoroughly adopted the project of the Forum of and anti-fascist and partisan Associations of the Adriatic Ionian cities, founded in Ancona in 2005 by some of the protagonists of the Italian Resistance in the Marche region and former partisans on the other side of the Adriatic Sea.

Today, this Forum includes the ''ANPI'' (Italian Partisan National Association) and similar associations in Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia, Montenegro, Albania and Greece. ''The macro-regional strategy - Marche's Governor Gian Mario Spacca said - is deeply rooted in our rediscovered unity on the basis of the common origins within this Adriatic and Ionian area. In the name of peace, democracy and solidarity, and thus in the name of all these ideals, that the resistance has embodied. It was therefore a natural for this Region joining the Forum's project, which is capable of enhancing the European citizenship and, in particular, the Adriatic- Ionian liberation from fascism''.
