(ANSA) - TRIESTE - United States shipped the first load of
liquid natural gas to the newly built Lech Kaczynski LNG
Terminal in Swinoujscie, north-west Poland, Polish Press Agency
reported.
"Such days go down in history since this first LNG shipment
from the US to Poland will surely be reported in history
textbooks", Prime Minister Beata Szydlo said, underlining "this
is a symbolic day showing that Poland implements ideas of a safe
country". The PM stressed that such an investment as the gas
terminal in Swinoujscie "unites two priorities of the Polish
government: security and development".
US LNG firm Cheniere would like to see stronger relations
with its Polish partner and the entire Central and Eastern
European region, Andrew Walker, the company's vice president,
said. Cheniere has launched its facility in the state of
Louisiana. It is the first US LNG export terminal and it is
where the Polish shipment originated. (ANSA).
