(ANSA) - TRIESTE - A contract for the construction of the
Trans Balkan energy corridor was signed today in Montenegro. The
project, worth 25 million euros, is being financed by the Eu and
implemented by the German Development Bank (Kfw). The document
was signed by Montenegro's economy minister Vladimir Kavaric and
by the representatives of Kfw and of the local energy
transmission company, Cges.
"The project aims at reinforcing the Montenegrin infrastructure
in relation to the Montenegro-Italy underwater energy cable",
the minister said. "The undersea connection with Italy is a
priority of this country. It puts Montenegro at the centre of
this part of the world in terms of energy connections, allowing
the neighbouring countries to connect with Western Europe
through Montenegro", Kavaric added, as reported by the public
broadcaster, Rtcg. (ANSA).
