(ANSA) - ZAGREB - Japanese group Marubeni has been chosen as the
''preferred bidder'' for the construction and operation of a new
power plant in Croatia, on Istria's eastern coast, while
Edison's bid was rejected for the time being.
This is the largest direct investment that has been made in the
country in recent years, estimated at more than 800 million
euro.
The new block of the power plant should have a capacity of 500
MW per year, construction will begin in 2015 and the facility
should be fully operational in 2019.
If negotiations with Marubeni are successful, this will be the
largest Japanese and Asian investment in Croatia. (ANSA).
