(by Daniela Giammusso) (ANSA) - ROME - Pope Wojtyla's spirituality portraited by Rafal Bujnowski and Guantanamo cell in the installation by Tomasz Bajer. Different aspects of the feminine, in the maternity of a cotton thread that unites mother and daughter photographed by Margorzata Markiewicz and provocative nudes by Katarzyna Gorna.

And then, the shocking images of dead bodies 'gussied up' in the Defilè by AES + F collective. These are the different aspects of creativity in 'new' Poland, which arrived in Rome with ''L'arte differente: Mocak at the Maxxi '' (until January 22), the first exhibition ever in Italy with works coming from the Contemporary Art Museum in Krakow , the first built in Poland after World war II and hosted in Oscar Schindler's former factory. At the heart of the collection, founded in 2010 (the Maxxi opened in the same year), are a thousand works donated by the current director Maria Anna Potocka, now 4,800, coming from 270 artists and 35 countries. She brought in Rome 50 paintings, photos, videos and installations, made by Polish authors such as Miroslaw Balka or Zofia Kulik, but also made by international artists, with the aim of featuring ''the great variety of contemporary art expressions in my country'', Potocka said. For the Maxxi, which during the holidays will only close on Christmas Day, - with tours and special openings also on Dec. 24 and 31, 1 January and a full program for children -, Mocak's exhibition is the second stage of the ''Expanding the Horizons Programme'' , which was launched last year - said the President of the Maxxi Foundation, Giovanna Melandri - with the exhibition featuring the art from Istanbul and which will continue in 2017 with works of art from Beirut ''.
