(ANSA) - PRISTINA - About one hundred of Kosovo Albanians have
been repatriated from Hungary, Germany, Austria, Sweden and
Finland. This was the first group illegal migrants from Kosovo
to be repatriated, while a second group is going to depart from
Belgium. These migrants have either entered the EU illegally or
their asylum request has been declined, with many of them having
left their country of origin several years ago.
Over the last months tens of thousands of Albanian Kosovars
have left their country escaping poverty and unemployment in
search of work and better life conditions in the EU, in
particular in the countries of Northern Europe, raising alarm in
many European countries. Most asylum requests made by Kosovars
get declined since Kosovo is not at war and its citizens are not
subject to persecution. (ANSA).
