(ANSA) - BELGRADE, JUN 18 - The trend to convert to organic
farming continues in Germany, with the sector booming since
2010, according to data from the German Federal Statistical
Office (Destatis). Slightly more than 26,000 agricultural
holdings were managed under organic farming rules in 2020, which
represents an increase of 58% compared with 2010, when Germany
registered 16,500 organic farms. The percentage of organic farms
as a proportion of all agricultural holdings in Germany rose
from 6% to 10% in the same period, Destatis said, noting that
more than half of all organic holdings are located in Bayern
(38%) and Baden-Württemberg (17%). (ANSA).
