(ANSA) - BELGRADE, DECEMBER 2 - Data released today by the Serbian Statistical Office (RZS) shows that the GDP in the third quarter of 2019 landed at 4.8% compared to the corresponding period of 2018.

The RZS said that the gross domestic product increased by 2.2% in the third quarter compared to the previous quarter. In the period in consideration, the sector that registered the highest growth (+34,7%) was the construction one, data from RZS show. "GDP release largely confirmed unofficial figures communicated by the government and central bank in recent weeks, with domestic demand confirming its position as the pillar of growth," Erste Group Research said in statement commenting the new RZS data. "Although growth in Serbia is set to moderate this year compared to 2018, the slowdown won't be as strong as envisaged in early 2019," Erste forecasted. (ANSA).
