Romania: export growing, but trade deficit widens

In May second-highest all-time level of exports

(ANSA) - BELGRADE - Between January and the end of May 2018, in Romania exports increased by 8 per cent and imports by 9.3%, compared to the same period of 2017, the Romanian Institute of Statistics (Ins) said in a statement.

According to the financial portal Business Review, in May exports of goods from Romania increased by 5.2 percent year on year, "to hit a second-highest all-time level of 5.9 billion euro, but were outpaced by imports." The national statistical office added that the commercial deficit in the same period was 5 billion euro, 546.8 million euro more than in the first five months of 2017. (ANSA).
