Germany, 60% of German employees forced to work overtime
Report made by trade unions. Hotels and restaurants ranked first
11 February, 16:58Among full-time employees, 33% spend more than 45 hours per week at work, and 17% admit to spend more than 48 hours. There are many differences between the different sectors. The employees working in hotels and restaurants (full-time workers are 63%) top the list of those who work overtime, followed by drivers of vehicles used for transport (59%). At the bottom of the barrel, according to this report made by German trade unions, you find those who work in the finance and insurance sectors. Many of these employees do not voluntarily work overtime, said Annelie Buntenbach, member of the DGB board, commenting on the results: ''We need new rules, in order to let workers organize independently and flexibly their working time'', she added.
