Balkans: Di Maio on a mission today and tomorrow

10 February, 13:37The talks will focus on the bilateral relations, the prospects for European integration of the Balkan country, the Kosovo issue with the efforts to encourage the resumption of the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina interrupted for over a year, and the general situation in the region, given that an EU-Western Balkans summit is scheduled for next May in Zagreb.
Croatia, an EU member since 2013, will hold the six-monthly rotating presidency of the Council of the European Union until the end of June. Di Maio is also planning a meeting with the Italian community in Belgrade. Serbian Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic will offer dinner in his honor. Tomorrow morning Di Maio will move to Skopje, where he will first meet President Stevo Pendarovski, and then Foreign Minister Nikola Dimitrov, Prime Minister Oliver Spasovski and the Parliament Speaker Talat Xhaferi, and the main political leaders of the majority and the opposition. Tomorrow afternoon, Di Maio will head to Kosovo, where he will have talks with the new Prime Minister Albin Kurti, his counterpart Glauk Konjufca and the Parliament Speaker Vjosa Osmani. At the end of his visit, Di Maio will meet the Italian military of Kfor, the Nato mission in Kosovo. (ANSA).
